How to tie a tie - easy and quick, step by step. The Windsor (aka Double Windsor, Full Windsor) is a popular way of tying a necktie with a sharp, symmetrical, triangular knot. It's perfect for job interviews, proms, weddings, formals, graduations, work and business meetings.

The instructions in this video tutorial are suitable for all ages - for beginners, novices, the burgeoning fashionista or the expert stylist looking to bring that look to perfection. Viewers are guided – slowly and clearly on how to wear a neck-tie.

Hi there, I’m going to show you one of the most popular ways to tie a tie – using the Windsor knot – also known as the Double Windsor or the Full Windsor. Start with your collar up and the tie around your neck. If you are right handed, hold the wide end of the tie in your right hand and the narrow end of the tie in your left hand. Now, it is important to remember that the longer you make the wide end, the lower the tie will hang when you are finished. Basically, you want to line up your tie like this. If you remember this, you will save yourself a lot of time later on. Now cross each end over – wide end over the top – and leave about this much on the narrow end. That is about four inches or ten centimetres. With your left hand, take the wide end of the tie. Thread it through the back of this opening from behind. Thread it all the way through, like this. Now take the wide end of the tie, and with your left hand, wrap it all the way around the back like this. Switch hands. Notice here how the back of the tie is facing outward. Taking the wide end, now, in your right hand, thread it through the front of this opening. Alright! The hardest part is now done; the rest is easy! What you can see here is the inside of your knot. It should look a bit like a triangle. Put your left index finger on the knot, like this, and keep it there. With your other hand, wrap the wide end around the knot, from right to left – and then grab it from behind. Keep your index finger where it is. With your right hand, push the wide end through this opening again – from the back. Alright, here comes the punch-line! Your index finger has created a little tunnel. What you need to do now is thread the tie down through the tunnel. The last step now is to adjust and tighten it – alternating between the long end and the short end of the tie – gradually pulling the knot up – shaping it as you go – until the tie is just how you want it to be – a sharp, symmetrical, triangular knot. The snell knot was originally invented in Great Britain for eyeless hooks. It keeps the fishing line aligned with the shank of the fishing hook to preserve strength. It should be tied on hooks with a bent eye so that the line can exit straight without a kink. It is an important knot in multiple hook rigs.

Advantages:
Very strong attachment to hook retaining 95% plus line strength when tied well. No knot sits on the eye of the hook. Can be tied on eyeless hooks which is handy in a survival situation.

Making hard boiled eggs can be frustrating when they don't peel easily. So if you want to have easy-peeling hard-boiled eggs, just follow these simple steps! Your eggs will be perfectly boiled, peel easily, and oh-so yummy!

UPDATE: For Easter, add 2 teaspoons of white vinegar to the water to help your hard-boiled eggs color more evenly. Also, as a few of people have been reporting that their particular brand of eggs tend to crack when dropped into boiling water right out of the fridge, try leaving them on the counter for an hour or two to warm slightly before putting them in the water. This will help avoid cracking.

Hard-boiled eggs are one of our favorite quick & healthy snacks, especially during a break from cruising down the highway. We also include them in our dinner salads on a regular basis, so we always keep them in the fridge. The only nuisance is how difficult it can sometimes be to remove the shell without removing a lot of the egg too. While boondocking (camping without hook-ups) we of course don't want to be using too much water, so we always hard boil a batch of eggs right before heading out into the wild for a week or two.

Since we hard-boil so many eggs, we've been searching for a trick to making them easy to peel. There are almost as many tips about this online as there are "sure-fire" methods for curing hiccoughs... and all of them about as worthwhile.

We've read about, and tried, an awful lot of techniques... "Use eggs that are near their expiration date"... "Use really fresh eggs"... "Let the eggs warm to room temperature before putting them in the boiling water"... "Put the eggs into cold water, then heat them to a boil slowly"... "Add vinegar to the water"...and variations on these themes, and others. None of them seem to work consistently.

About three months ago, we tried another method on our own that we hadn't read about anywhere, and it's turned out to be the most consistent technique we've ever used for making easy-to-peel hard-boiled eggs. It doesn't matter how old or new the eggs are. Just follow the simple steps in this video and see how you make out.

A few notes: First, we always buy extra-large eggs. If you use large eggs instead, our guess is that it might only take 12 minutes instead of 13. Or maybe not... try it out and let us know! Second, try to avoid hard-boiling any egg that has an obvious hairline crack in it, since it will be more likely to break when putting the cold egg into boiling water (you're not trying to make poached eggs here, right?). If you have problems with eggs cracking when putting them into the water, try leaving them on the counter for an hour or two to warm up to room temperature before putting them into the boiling water. And again, we never make hard-boiled eggs while boondocking due to the water it uses (although EATING them while boondocking is the best)! ;-)

One last quick trick: the absolute easiest way to peel the eggs is immediately after removing them from the ice. They will still peel nicely a day (or a week) later, but the shells will practically fall off if you peel them right after making them.
