How to Take Screenshot on Macbook Pro/Air?
1. Using keyboard commands
• Capture the entire screen
Simply press the “Command+Shift+3” keys at the same time. Wait for a flash to appear on your screen and then release the keys. The screenshot will automatically be saved on your Mac’s desktop. Or you can simultaneously press the “Command+Shift+3-Ctrl” keys. This will copy the mac screenshot to the clipboard and you’ll be able to edit it and make some final adjustments.
• Capture a portion of the screen
If you want to capture only a part of your screen, you’ll have to use the “Command+Shift+4” key combination. This will swap your mouse pointer with a crosshair, which you can use to select the part of the screen that you want to save. Once you’ve selected a specific part, the screenshot will be saved on your desktop. Or simply press “Command+Shift+4+Ctrl” simultaneously and the screenshot will be copied to the clipboard.
• Capture a window or menu
If you are in the middle of a browsing session on Safari and only want to capture a specific tab, simultaneously press the “Command+Shift+4” keys on your keyboard and wait for the pointer to turn into a crosshair. Now, press the spacebar and the icon will again change to a “Camera” icon. Now, hover this icon over the window that you want to capture and click. This will save the captured window on your desktop.
2. Use the Screenshot app
Step 1: Press & hold “Command+Shift+5” keys simultaneously and wait for the “Screenshot Toolbar” to appear at the top of your screen. Or launch the “Screenshot” app through the “Other” folder on the launchpad.

Step 1: Launch the “Preview” app and hit the “File” menu tab on top. Then select the Take screenshot option from the appearing drop-down menu.
