WAKING UP AT 5AM » Why I don't do it. Hello my friends! Let's talk about waking up early, and having a productive day. In this video, I share my reasons for not doing the 5am wake up, or even the 4am wake up. I also share my schedule for a productive morning working from home on my channel.

I thought it was interesting that many people are searching for terms like "how to wake up at 5am and not be tired" or "how to wake up at 5am without an alarm", or "how to be a morning person". The fact that many people are looking for answers to these questions, leads me to think that lots of you have tried, but have experienced some challenges. If you're that person, my advice would be to stop waking up at 5am. :-)

I have always been an early riser and I usually wake up early. But lately, there are so many videos to be found about how to wake up at 5am like a boss, or 5am morning routine. It's definitely becoming a trend. And while I don't have a problem with the concept of waking up earlier, I do think it's important that people don't feel pressured to get up at 5am as well. In this video, I explain why I feel this way.

People say that "waking up 5am is changing my life" and their 5am morning routine is helping them with being more productive. And if that's the case, then I say great! But for me, I personally think there are other factors at play that have a bigger influence on productivity than the hour at which we wake up. And that's why I felt like making this video and sharing my thoughts on the topic.

But I never really believed in this, it always sounds like just changing the time when you sleep.
Why do this? Do the pros outweigh the cons?

There are lots of claims, (better sleep, peak state, love life more, more confidence), those I'm very skeptical about, but these are the most interesting:

3. it will build a routine
4. Social life, friends, family, and relationship, I have a girlfriend…

For the past two months, I've been waking up at 5AM every day to optimise for my ADHD. I was simply sick of staying up late to finish off work I couldn't complete in the day because I procrastinated too long on it. Here I share my 5 tips for building a productive sleep routine with ADHD at Oxford University. I've read every sleep productivity book under the sun and it just wasn't working for me, until it clicked. I'm even able to tackle my time blindness better because of this new approach.

We Sleep too much or too little because we have inconsistent sleep schedule. It is better to go to sleep and wake up at the same time everyday. With this your body
gets into rhythm and you can wake up naturally at the end of sleep cycle everyday.

The problem with Blue Light in the evening is that it tricks your body that it's still day time. When it gets darker outside our body naturally produces a sleep hormone
called melatonin. The artifical light blocks that melatonin production - this messes your sleep pattern.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been a evening person, I’d wake up late, start work late and then go to bed late. It’s left me in a rut, and I decided this week I needed a change. So I decided that I would do a 5am morning routine for one week to see what would happen, to see if I could become a morning person, in a routine similar to the Andrew Huberman routine, I woke up at 5am everyday. This a motivational video to test out my own personal discipline. In this video I discuss what time is best to wake up, the science behind early mornings, the best morning routine, if 5am will change your life. This video will help tackle time management, through productivity hacks and personal growth, almost as well as David Goggins shouting at you on tiktok to get up. Hopefully this video can offer you a potential lifestyle change and give you that energy boost that I certainly needed. So join me as I fight procrastination through personal development and a little bit of psychology with this new 5am routine all in the name of self improvement

90 DAY CHALLENGE

You can create your own rules (AND STICK TO THEM) or follow the plan as described below ✨ I wanted to make this beginner-friendly, so feel free to tweak something to fit your current level.

WEEK 1-4: FOUNDATION PHASE
🌿 Morning Routine – Wake up an hour early than your current wake up time & start your day with gratitude and intention.

💦 Hydration & Nutrition – Drink 2L of water daily & eat whole, nutritious foods Monday-Friday. Saturday and Sunday, don’t go crazy but live a little.

🏋🏽‍♀️ Move Daily – a MINIMUM of 30 minutes of exercise (strength training, yoga, home workout, walking, JUST MOVE!).

📖 Mindset Shift – Read 10 pages of a self-help book daily. (Book recommendation: Don’t believe everything you think or The Power of positive thinking) the goal here is to shift they way you think, especially if it hasn’t been working for you!

🚀 Goal Setting – Write down 3 non-negotiable goals for this challenge. By the end of this challenge, what are 3 major goals you want to achieve. BE REALISTIC!

WEEK 5-8: LEVEL UP PHASE
🔥 Strength & Confidence – Increase intensity in workouts and/or try a new fitness challenge. (Ex: minimum of 1hr. Daily exercise, instead of walking the whole way, jog half and walk half, increase your weights, etc.)

🌸 Self-Care Upgrade – Skincare, grooming, and dressing well daily. DO NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE LOOKING A MESS! Try out a new look, add retinoids to your skin regimen, book a facial, keep your hair presentable, etc.

🧘🏽‍♀️ Mental Glow-Up – Reduce screen time & practice mindfulness. One hour before bed, put the phone down.. you won’t miss out on anything I promise!

💡 Skill & Growth – Learn something new (course, hobby, or money-making skill). YouTube is FREE EDUCATION! Stop playing with yourself and LEVEL UP during this month.

💰 Financial Glow-Up – Save or invest a small percentage of income weekly. You can literally save $50/week and that would satisfy this part. The point is to practice sacrificing for the reward that will come later ❤️ If you can’t set money aside and NOT touch it, you will forever have financial issues.

WEEK 9-12: TRANSFORMATION PHASE
💪🏽 Challenge Yourself – Push your limits in fitness & productivity. If you made it this far, you can continue to implement changes. Set a time for wake up and bedtime, run if you’ve been walking and jogging the past two months, go to a class if you’ve been too scared to… PUSH YOURSELF!

🛑 Detox – No junk food, negativity, or bad habits. Fast food, fried foods, bad energy people, destructive habits.. NONE OF IT! If it doesn’t ADD TO your goals, leave it.

🎯 Stay Disciplined – Stick to routines even when motivation fades. If you made it to month three and you’ve stuck to the plan… DON’T STOP NOW!

💎 Confidence & Femininity – Speak with purpose, walk with confidence, and set high standards. I highly recommend The Femininity Universe channel on YouTube, especially if you struggle in this area or have no idea where to start.

Waking up at 5am and being a morning person was never something I thought I could do, and now I don't mind waking up early in the morning at 5AM to workout and then go to work. Waking up at 5AM, 6AM, or even 8AM can all be done with these easy tips on how to wake up earlier! In terms of sleeping earlier, I would say just try waking up at 5AM no matter what time you sleep. Then...for sure...you will fall asleep earlier the next day! Hehehe.

“You’ve got 24 hours in a day,” says Jocko Willink, a former Navy SEAL and the founder of leadership consultancy Echelon Front. “The earlier you get up, the more you can take advantage of those hours.”

Willink, who wakes at 4:30 a.m., says that getting up early can help you stay productive and competitive. He taught himself to be an early riser as a young SEAL after noticing that some of the best people in the field got to work before he did. “I started waking up earlier so I could maybe get a little edge,” he says.

CNBC Make It caught up with Willink for his tips for those training themselves to be early risers.

Listen to your body
Pick a time to wake each morning and make sure that you commit to that time. If you do, you’ll find yourself getting tired earlier and earlier in the evening. Give yourself that rest, he says. Go to bed earlier and earlier until you have developed a new night-time routine and a new fixed bedtime.

“It takes discipline,” says Willink. “When you make that discipline decision early in the morning, the rest of your day is going to have more discipline in it.”

Don’t sleep in on Saturday
By the weekend, you might be tempted to sleep in. Don’t, says Willink. If you do, “by the time Monday morning rolls around you won’t feel like waking up early.” Keep your bedtime and your wake time consistent to ensure you can keep to your early rising schedule.

“Get up early and get up early every day,” he says.

Give yourself time to adjust
Willink says people are surprised that just going to bed as early as 9:30 p.m. isn’t enough to become an early riser. He says people find they can’t force themselves to sleep and will often lie in bed awake until their usual bedtime, making early rising impossible. Remember that creating new habits won’t happen overnight, he says. Change will take time.
